The Sony Honami must be one of the worst kept secrets of the industry, probably in a fierce battle for the title with Apple's iPhone 5C.
Even though the smartphone hasn't been officially announced (this will happen on September 4th), we know virtually everything about it, from
internal hardware to
UI elements. Leaks showing the smartphone's design have been constantly arriving at our doors and we even saw how the Honami
will behave in benchmarks.
Until recently, one of the mysteries was the smartphone's retail name (Honami was evidently a codename), but even that was
disclosed by an XDA developer. But if hearsay is simply not enough for you, now we have cold hard proof of Honami's final moniker. Join us after the break for more.

What you can see above are mockups of Sony's trio of flagships. Right in the middle, between the Xperia Z and the Xperia Z Ultra, you can find the Honami, which as evidence suggests, will be called Sony Xperia Z1.
The naming strategy makes sense and it clearly integrates into what Sony's CEO (Kaz Hirai) has called the "
One Sony" strategy. What we're curious to find out is how the so called
Sony Honami Mini will be called and if it will also be unveiled on September 4th (the same day when the Galaxy Note 3 is also supposed to be introduced to the world).
So what do you think: is the Xperia Z1 an inspired moniker? Do you think its resemblance to Xperia Z will confuse people? Let us know in the comments section.
