First Tizen phone will have OLED screen, with dark UI theme as default

Samsung recently released version 2.2 of the Tizen UI, which brought a number of interface changes. Turns out there's another change we weren't privy to – Tizen 2.2 uses the dark theme as the system default to preserve battery life, which means – you guessed it – the first Tizen phone will come with an AMOLED screen.

Since its inception Tizen has had both light and dark themes for the OS (pretty much like Windows Phone), and devices will come with a particular theme depending on what type of display they use. Darker/black images help battery life as OLED screens need few/no LEDs to display them, so it will be a default on any OLED display Tizen phone, while those with LCD screens will use the light theme as default.

Early rumors had suggested that the first Tizen phone might use hardware from the Galaxy S3, like the quad-core Exynos processor, and since the S3 also had an AMOLED screen, I guess there's still a chance Samsung will use the same specs as its 2012 flagship for its first Tizen smartphone (remember, that hardware may be "old," but Tizen should not have as high requirements as Android to run).
