Sony Xperia L unboxing video
May 25th 2013, 07:10

With 2013 well underway, Sony is pushing hard for advancements in 4G. The company kicked things off with its Sony Xperia Z flagship at CES and has subsequently offered two new 4G additions in the form of the Xperia SP and new waterproofed Xperia ZR.
That being said, there's still a huge community of mobile users who have no real need for 4G, but are still looking for a premium Android experience – that's where the Sony Xperia L steps in.
The company's first non-4G handset of the year, the Xperia L borrows elements of its more powerful siblings as well as demonstrating a clear evolution on the likes of the Xperia J and Xperia E last year.

Those looking to get their hands on this stylish Xperia will find a pretty compact box with basic information on the sides, highlighting the handset's 8-megapixel camera, which utilises Sony's own Exmor RS image sensor, its dual-core 1GHz processor and the fact it runs Android. Our handset came in classic black, but you'll also be able to grab Xperia L's is a classy white or satin red finish.

Opening the box up there's a dedicated slot for the handset itself, which comes complete with a screen protector and wrapped in plastic. In addition there's as you'd expect a USB to microUSB lead, again bound and wrapped in plastic, along with Sony's latest slim line UK USB plug adapter; again wrapped in plastic. Save for the literature which consists of a warranty and a quick start guide, that's all she wrote.

On first inspection the handset itself is a nice blend of matt and soft touch plastic with elements of Sony's Arc design language in play, a chromed strip along the phone's edge and metal accents around the camera and the power/lock key.

The Sony Xperia L has just arrived on Vodafone on PAYG.
