Popular messaging app LINE coming to Samsung Galaxy Gear next month Sep 6th 2013, 20:31, by Maximus While WhatsApp might be ruling the roost when it comes to cross-platform messaging, numerous new apps have been trying to get a cut of the messaging market, and one of them is LINE, which has been increasing in popularity rather rapidly since its launch. Now, it looks like LINE will take the mantle of the first messaging app to support Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Gear smartwatch, according to a report by PRTimes. While you won't be able to use the same full-blown version as the one on your smartphone, LINE will have Gear-specific functionality, such as incoming voice calls and messages, turning off and on message notifications and viewing them on the watch, and possibly others, though you won't be able to replay to messages from the watch itself. Also, it's possible the app will initially be exclusive to users in Japan. Of course, you'll need to buy the Galaxy Note 3 and have your friends buy one too if you plan on using LINE with them on the Galaxy Gear, though that might not be the case in a few months if Samsung makes good use on its promise to make Gear compatible with rival smartphones. Which brings me to the question: do you guys use LINE, or is WhatsApp the only messaging app you need?
