Samsung increases smartphone prices in India due to deprecating Rupee
Aug 23rd 2013, 20:22, by Maximus

Well, it had to happen sooner or later – Samsung has officially jacked up the price of its smartphones in India by a good 4-5 percent, something the company confirmed to BGR India. It's a result of the free fall the Indian rupee has experienced over the last few weeks, with the US dollar increasing in value considerably, something that will have an effect on the entire industry as import prices rise.

According to data compiled by PriceBaba.com, the Galaxy S4′s price has been increased by Rs. 1,500, the Galaxy S III by Rs. 1,820, the Galaxy Note II by Rs. 2,495 and Galaxy Grand Duos by Rs. 1,000. This also means the Galaxy Note III might launch at a price even higher than the steep prices flagship smartphones today cost, though if the rupee can start appreciating again, we might see prices settle down to sensible levels.

Fingers crossed.
