Apple and Samsung to ship a combined 110 million tablets in 2013 May 3rd 2013, 16:55 Taiwan-based TFT-LCD panel makers have received surging orders from international tablet vendors and China-based white-box ones, according to Taiwan-based supply chain sources, adding that Apple and Samsung Electronics together will ship 110 million tablets in 2013. The makers also said that other international vendors are expected to ship 50 million tablets during the year and white-box vendors as many as 100 million units. Most of the white-box vendors are based in China, and are expected to continue putting in volume orders to Taiwan-based panel makers throughout the second quarter. AU Optronics (AUO), Innolux Corporation and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) are all expected to benefit from the orders in 2013, the sources noted.
